In vitiligo, the hands are especially difficult to treat. It takes a lot of nbUVB to get the spots pink so for patients, the initial results are discouraging.
Most patients are interested in the treatment of lesions located in exposed and visible areas. Although the dorsum of the hands and fingers are the most refractory regions, in well defined stable disease successful repigmentation is possible.
When having nbUVB therapy on your hands, it's a good idea to cut holes in some tight fitting gloves in order to expose just the spots to the ultraviolet light.
